Flipkart along with amazon trying to manage Bangalore street . In order to addressing the traffic woes of the city, Flipkart has sent out an invite to leading technology companies to participate with solutions. Among those invited is competitor Amazon India, which is yet to confirm participation, according to one source briefed on the matter. The mail was addressed to Amazon India CTO Amit Agarwal.
Chief technology officer Ravi Garikapati, also reached out to CEOs of Microsoft, venture capital firm Accel, IT majors Wipro, Infosys and Cisco India among others. copy of the invitation sent out to these companies was also exposed by ET. The email called out Bengaluru’s identity as the city of chaotic traffic due to influx of students and working professionals joining global companies and startups.
“As an innovative, tech company born in Bengaluru, Flipkart wants to help change that perception. At Flipkart, we’re celebrating June as the month of innovation, part of our Big 10 celebrations, and we’re inviting everyone to join hands to find innovative, implementable solutions to help fix some of Bengaluru’s traffic woes. We’re all, in many ways, as much a part of the problem as we must surely be of the solution,” reads the mail which was sent out over the last few days.
The Gridlock Hackathon also tried this earlier to resolve the traffic problem of the city .The invitees are required to submit their solutions before June 21, with winners being announced by a jury on July 1. The winners will be given a Flipkart voucher worth Rs 2 lakh, said the company blog.
