Chandigarh: The accused of Himachal Pradesh CM, Virbhadra’s nephew stayed in a flat in Mohali and slept for 7 hours after the incident and then separated to various routes, said sources from police.
Meanwhile, after a week Akansh Sen was allegedly hit and run over by a car here at Sector 9, the Chandigarh Police have arrested one of the absconding accused Harmehtab Singh in the matter.
Briefing media on Thursday, Eish Singhal, SSP Chandigarh Police said “We have arrested the accused Harmehtab Singh alias Farid in the matter.
The accused was arrested from Haridwar, Uttrakhand.
The accused was arrested on Thursday morning while he was trying to enter the premises of an Ashram in Haridwar”.
The SSP said that inputs were received following which teams were dispatched to Haridwar to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, sources reveal that the accused Farid and Balraj after taking rest for around 7 hours in a flat in Mohali then separated from each other as Balraj dropped him to airport and then went to Punjab side while Fareed left to Bangalore by taking a flight from Mohali airport. The accused Farid then stayed at Bangalore for two days i.e 10-11 February and then left to Delhi in train. He travelled in train for 12-13 February to Delhi and then stayed in a farm house in Delhi on 15 and was arrested then on 16 February, said sources. However police claims that the accused was held from Haridwar.

Meanwhile, the accused was produced in the local court on Thursday after he was arrested where he was sent to three days police remand.
According to police reports, Harmehtab Singh alias Farid is the great grandson of Gian Singh Rarewala, former chief minister of Pepsu state, the erstwhile Patiala and East Punjab States Union, and owns a farmhouse in Landran near Mohali.

The SSP said that the preliminary investigation reports that there were 11 people including three girls who after having drinks at discotheques gathered at Deep Sidhu residence at Sector 9.
The Police have learnt that Farid and Shera had a scuffle following which the accused Fareed along with Balraj over the car at Akansh who was reportedly supporting Shera. Meanwhile, the Police have obtained the CCTV footage from F bar, boom box and sequence of incidents are being linked to ascertain the theory, said the SSP.
