Chandigarh: Police Department in Punjab is working overtime to ensure that repeat of Nabha jail break case does not takes place.
The masterminds behind Nabha jail break which involved six dreaded gangsters and terrorist of Khalistan Liberation Force made the best use of 4G technology to stay in constant touch with their handlers.
In order to ensure that gangsters and hardcore criminals lodged in jails fail to misuse of technology, 4G jammers will be installed in all 10 central jails in Punjab by the end of March, work for which is going on at war footing.
ADGP (Prisons) Rohit Chaudhary said “All efforts are being made to curb the loopholes in central jails across the state and 4G jammers will ensure that criminals lodged in jails cannot get in touch by using 4G technology anymore.”
Jail officials have been in over drive mode in last three months and have recovered over 430 mobiles from prisoners including smart phones.
Chaudhary added that curbing the menace of mobile phones in jails is necessary and surprise inspections in previous months have bore positive results.
He also acknowledged that some jail officials may be assisting the criminals in breaching security and issued stern warning to such officials.
Taking no more chances and making security fool proof, Chaudhary further said that X-ray machines will be installed to scan the belongings of prisoners.
