Mohali: In a dreadful act, a wife in connivance with her aides, killed her husband, stuffed the body in a suitcase and left it abandoned after failing to load it in a BMW car, parked in front of a house in Phase 3B-I in Mohali here on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ekam Singh Dhillon, son of a human rights activist Jaspal Singh Dhillon while the accused ‘wife’ is said to be a niece of senior Congress leader.
The police apprehend that Dhillon was hacked to death by more than one persons before stacking the body in the suitcase. The possibility of use of a firearm in the murder could not be ruled out, the police said. It has, however, been alleged that the wife of the deceased, Seerat Kaur along with her accomplice killed Dhillon and stuffed the body in a suitcase. Kaur late in the evening surrendered before the police and even confessed the crime. She told the police that she took the extreme step as she was fed up with her ‘unemployed husband.’ Police say that Seerat Kaur is said to be a niece of senior Congress leader Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, a former MLA from Sardulgarh, who lost to the SAD candidate in Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections 2017. The police officials said that the incident came to fore when victim’s wife, who was all set to dispose of the body by transporting it to some other place, managed to escape from the scene. The woman, according to the police, had disappeared from the scene after an auto-rickshaw driver, whom she had asked to help her loading the suitcase in the dickey of the luxurious car, found something wrong in the suitcase.
The panicky auto driver denied help to the woman making some excuses and subsequently informed a PCR team. A police team led by SHO, Matour, Baljinder Singh reached the spot. Alam Vijay Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, said, “A a pistol has been recovered from the house of the couple after a search. A case had been registered against Seera.”
