Chandigarh: As many as 30 schoolchildren had a narrow escape when a bus of Chitkara International School overturned near Sector 38-West gurdwara here on Wednesday morning.
Two children and the driver received minor injuries in the incident. The driver was arrested and later bailed out, said the police.
According to the police, the incident took place around 7.45 am when the bus was heading towards the school after picking the students of Classes I to IX.
An eyewitness said the bus driver took a sharp turn and lost balance when it was crossing the gurdwara and eventually the bus rammed into a streetlight pillar.
The police was informed. PCR vehicles and ambulances immediately reached the spot to rescue children from the overturned bus.
Inspector Ram Rattan, SHO, Maloya police station, said, “The bus driver has been arrested under Sections 337 and 279 of the Indian Penal Code.
