Chandigarh: State Health Department on Thursday in principle gave its nod for the appointment of 673 regular staff nurses and 919 multipurpose health workers. This paramedical staff would be posted in various government hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres and sub centres across the Punjab.
Expressing gratitude towards the Chief Minister for giving go-ahead for the appointment of 1,592 key health functionaries, Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra said the primary health services in the state were badly disturbed in the state due to the acute shortage of this medical and paramedical staff since last 10 years.
Divulging more detail about the recruitment process, Mohindra said that the government would not organise any state level function to hand over the appointment letters instead the appointment letters will be delivered at the postal address of the newly recruited employees within week with a copy to the concerned Civil Surgeon office. This exercise is meant to save the precious time of the of the government officers/functionaries and to curb the wasteful expenditure on the organisation of such state level functions.
He said that the counseling process for the recruitment of staff nurses has already been completed whereas the counseling for the recruitment of multi purpose health workers will be started within two days and the intimation in this regard would also be updated on the official website for the convenience of the candidates.
