In a statement issued here today, Sidhu said that his initiative step towards tourism and cultural affairs department has given him strength and courage to work hard in future. He said that the Chief Minister had announced a number of important announcements regarding his departments yesterday. Mr. Badal made me a debtor by giving priority to both the departments in the budget speech.For the first time tourism department got importance:
S. Sidhu said that for the first time in the history of Punjab, Tourism and Culture Department has given a special place in the budget. He said that the Finance Minister has kept Rs 26 crores for the maintenance and preservation of rich heritage of the state, improvement of tourist facilities and museums. Likewise, Rs 7 crores have been embarked for the restoration of closed band of Heritage Festivals by the previous government, which will give an opportunity to connect new afflictions with their rich heritage.The most promising thing is to invest Rs 5 crore for marketing Punjabis to move Punjabis overseas, to attract tourists, and to encourage tourism. This will give a big boost to the department’s efforts. 3 crore has been embarked for bein river Multipurpose Project.Growth in urban areas funds by 103.27%:
Sidhu said that the amount of Rs 2268.18 crore was released last year for development of cities and more than doubling it Rs 4610.59 crore this year, which is 103.27 per cent more than last year. Four big cities Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala smart cities will be developed, CLU Process to be simplified. Announcement for low-cost LEDs in cities and construction of multi-storey parking to solve the problems of lighting and parking of vehicles.
