Amritsar: Dal Khalsa, an outfit of Sikh radicals, has suggested the management of Amritsar’s Khalsa University(KU) to shift its venue outside the premises of the historic Khalsa College, spread in 330 acres in the holy city, as a viable way out to end the stalemate. The organisation is of the view that people at large will have no objection provided the University is shifted at an appropriate distance from its existing place.
“Undoubtedly, the Khalsa College management acted in haste and failed to feel the pulse”, claimed party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh. Taking a jibe on the appointment of KU’s new Vice Chancellor Gurmohan Singh Walia, he said: “There is more to it than meets the eye”. “A day after strongly propagating the possibility to upgrade Khalsa College into University, he got the appointment letter as VC of the controversial university,” he added.
“In case some people remain stubborn and go on to ride roughshod of all objections and concerns, they would be entirely responsibility for ruining the careers of 300 students, enrolled in the university as well as its faculty,” Singh asserted while urging the government to ensure that career of the 300 students was not jeopardised.
