Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Wednesday busted a four member gang running a fake visa racket of Malaysia which was duping innocent youth on the pretext of sending them abroad.
The police also arrested a Malaysian national Pandyan and seized a mobile, Rs 17,670, Malaysian and Singaporean currency and eight passports from his possession.
Police said that the accused was identified as Darshan Singh, a resident of Chittiwind in Amritsar, Satnam Singh of Shahkot and Ramandeep Singh of Lamma Pind from Jalandhar.
ADCP-I Jasbir Singh and ACP Central Manpreet Singh Dhillon said that Pandyan was a Malaysian national. He was running a fake visa agency and duping youth aspiring to settle abroad.
“The accused used to lure youth on the pretext of giving them Malaysian visa and charge around Rs 50,000 per person. It was only after some youth complained against the accused that the gang was busted,” they said.
