IMA Punjab to observe protest June 6 OPD services to remain suspended. On a call given by Punjab State of Indian Medical Association (IMA), doctors from Jalandhar would observe complete strike on June 6 in support of National Protest rally. All hospitals, including the government and clinics would remain closed on June 6 across state. OPD and elective work would be suspended for one day, as mark of protest from 8 am to 2 pm.Dr PS Bakshi, IMA National vice president said that over 100 doctors, who were members of IMA Jalandhar would also take part in ‘Dilli Chalo’ rally, where around 500 doctors from Punjab would raise voice against pending demands. “Doctors have a right to live with dignity and we have joined hands to invite government’s attention towards our safety”, he said.Bakshi said that rising incidents of violence against doctors. Criminalization of medical profession, increasing legislative interference in professional working and commercialization of medical profession were some of the demands, which would be raised in the national protest rally.Dr Navjot Dahiya, Secretary IMA Punjab also said that single window registration of doctors and medical establishments, central anti-quackery law, single window accountability were some of the other demands, which were pending for a long time now.
