Jalandhar: Punjabi singer K S Makhan on Monday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths in connection with a Punjabi film based on the high profile drugs mafia. He was quizzed for over three hours.
The ED sleuths questioned Makhan about his involvement in the film project, his bank accounts and other relevant financial transaction documents.
It was learnt that ED Deputy Director Niranjan Singh questioned Makhan on Monday. The film’s producer Jagseer Sidhu was also summoned by the ED on Monday, but he failed to appear. Earlier also, Jagseer Sidhu had not appeared before the ED officials on January 30.
Notably, the ED officials had swung into action after trailer of the film titled ‘Jugni hath kise na ani’ surfaced on YouTube. The film featured Punjab Police former cop turned druglord Jagdish Bhola in the lead role besides K S Makhan. The film was scheduled to be released on February 17. It was learnt that the film ‘Jugni Hath Kise na Auni’ was shot when Bhola was yet to be arrested in the multi crore drugs racket case. The film’s pre-production was yet to be completed.
As the name suggests symbolically, the film was based on drugs smuggling racket highlighting the nexus of politicians and police in Punjab with international links.
Interestingly, Bhola was playing the role of a villain in the film and he was keen for making his foray into the Bollywood. However, Bhola’s tinsel town dreams came crashing when he was arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with the drugs racket in November 2014.
Later, Bhola remained involved in police investigation and legal tangles and the film’s project remained a distant dream for him. It is pertinent to mention here that Jagseer Sidhu and Bhola were close friends and the ED would investigate their involvement from all aspects.
