Ludhiana:The lifestyle of the city residents is changing due to the advancement in modernization of society. Earlier it was seen that people used to celebrate special festivals with their families and relatives. But as the time is passing, the youngsters are more indulged in celebrating festivals with their friends by attending parties and going on long rides.
The best example of this was seen during the New Year Eve, when the city youngsters were found enjoying with their classmates and friends and not with their families and parents. When asked by some of the city parents about this, they claimed that this is due to the modern era which totally distracted the youth and keep them apart from their siblings.
The youngsters were seen on the roads and in the clubs during the New Year Eve along with their friends. Even some were found creating nuisance on the roads. The city traffic police even caught some youngsters during that and were also chalaaned.
A city boy, Kartik, who is just in 11th standard, when asked about the matter said, “The time has changed and we should also change ourselves according to it. New Year Eve was such an awaited moment for me to celebrate it in a good way. For me, going to a party with my friends was the best option for me to celebrate the special Eve. Spending time by sitting in the home in front of television screen along with the family is an old trend which is boring also. Presently, one cannot spend such an awaited evening in a boring way.”
A parent, Malika Narang, said, “The drastic change in the thinking of the youngsters is totally depressing for the parents. When we used to be in their place, the most important point for us, on such special occasions was to seek the blessings of our parents and by spending more and more time with the family. This was used to be our best time by enjoying with our family members. But today’s youngsters, even my kids also, are more indulged in the materialistic stuff and least indulged with the elders. Enjoyment is not a bad thing but ignoring elders for fun sake is also not good.”
