The new year has raised the expectations of residents of the city. they have hopes from administration and government to cater to their needs better in the year 2017. DailyPost has initiated efforts to bring forth the expectations of city residents with a ray of hope from the concerned to take notice of these and serve better.
Let’s have a glance what residents have got to say:
Harjinder Singh Kujreja (Businessman and social activist)
“Let us welcome 2017 with hopes that it will be a better and happier one. With the State elections around the corner, our MLA must consider the New Year as a new page in the book of Ludhiana. A blank page to be filled with progress and welfare of people of Ludhiana that make it the book worthwhile. Also, to mark the 350 birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, I wish that the city administration should erect a memorial for the tenth Sikh Guru.”
DR K N S Kang, Director, PCTE Group of Institutes, Baddowal
“Government should work for the people and not themselves. They should be responsible for the society and loyal towards their work. They should not get personal while working for the society and need to be more interactive with the society to help them. These are little things that matter a lot and will surely be helpful for the common people.
Pooja Mago, Owner of Visions
“We expect that new government in the state should bring policies for the Business not only in the city but in Punjab in order to take the industry to the next level. As Ludhiana is said to be the Manchester of India, but now its just a namesake as the industry is taking a back seat in Ludhiana due to poor policies for the business and number of taxes. No one is ready to invest and establish a factory or business house in the Punjab. They should attract business for the better development. MLA’s should be educated and techno-savy to move with the Digital India and have time for the common people also to solve their issues in a day to day life.”
Gurbhajan Gill (Famous writer and poet)
“As the coming year is the year coming with elections, all we want is the fair decision for the betterment of the city as a whole. Its the time when we all need to unite and work for the betterment in a peaceful manner. No wrong practice should be taken to win the elections, all should be fair enough. New selected candidate or MLA should look after the city with a new perspective of taking the city to higher heights.”
Badish Jindal, President of the association and vice chairman of National Productivity Council (NPC)
“We are expecting many things from next government as industry has been ruined in last few years due to which Ludhiana industry is facing several crunch. However, there is need of change from government as there is need of lot of changes in infrastructure, civic and many other problems. We are urging from police department to maintain traffic problem, remove encroachments and other problems so that common people may not suffer from any problem.”
Onkar Singh Pahwa (Avon Cycle)
“We are expecting from the coming government of good governance with the motive to boost the cycle industry. However, more and more better infrastructure is needed so that there is good environment in the city. We hope District Administration removes encroachments and maintains law and order situation so that there is no problem for the regular commuters. However, people are needed to resolve their basic problems. Police should maintain peace in the city in the coming year so that people live and move safely and freely.
SC Ralhan, President, Federation of Indian Export Organisations
“We are expecting peace and health laws and environment in coming year from government. We are wanting good business as bad recession is going on from past one year. We are not expecting much from government as they do nothing to improve the situation for the welfare of people. We will try to comply all the rules and regulations in coming year. However, we are expecting to improve infrastructure and to start airport at Ludhiana for international flights from district administration. We want from police department to maintain law, order and peace in city through completing their services in proper manner.”
Sanjay Goel, Architect, Director, Ludhiana Smart City Limited and Chairman IIA Chd-Pb Chapter
“We expect not only Smart Cities but Smart Punjab, including all villages, from our upcoming new government in the state. They should ask every department officials to do their work in the professional manner in order to change the face of Punjab. Elected MLAs must be not only educated but highly aware of all problems of Punjab today, so as to solve problems on priority after their election. They should be readily available for common man to hear their grievances. The civic problems of roads, water and dumps should be cleared at priority to mark it really smart so that other states should follow the works done in the Punjab State.”
