Ludhiana: The city police claimed the dip in crime rate in year 2016 as compared to 2015. With the cracking of several murder mysteries, important and crucial cases, snatching incidents, women security, the cops claimed that in 2016, eighty five percent of cases were traced while in 2015 it was 78 percent.
While releasing the figures of crime rate, the Police Commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh said that in 2016, they have cracked the murder case of student leader turned Sarpanch Ravi Khawajke, arrested persons involved in attack on Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, forced the killers of sacrilege accused to surrender in court, cracked robbery of Punjab National Bank in 48 hours, arrested killers of Dera Sacha Sauda follower. The major achievement of city police was to trace the case of attack on Shiv Sena leaders. The Police have exposed the sena leaders for staging attack on themselves to get police security cover.
Top cop informed that they have arrested 101 members of eighteen gangs and recovered weapons, cars, sharp edge weapons, mobile phones and cash from them.
The snatching incidents, property disputes and crime against women were also decreased in 2016 as compared to 2015, claimed top cop.
Following the directions of Election Commission of India, the city police have nabbed more than five hundred proclaimed offenders (POs) in 2016 while. In 2015, the police was able to nab only 230 POs.
Meanwhile, the police also takes credit of recovery of huge quantity of drugs in 2016.
