Ludhiana: The diesel and electric shed facing shortage of the equipment and staff at the Ludhiana Railway Station. Infact to shortage of the railway employees from the last one decade in Asia’s biggest diesel and electric sheds of railway Station the work is affecting. More than 50 posts are lying vacant in both diesel and electric shed of Ferozepur Division.
As from more than a decade now railways is not making any new recruitment of employees in diesel and electric sheds of the Ludhiana due to which Northern Railways Men’s Union carried out number of protests
till date. Even National Level Convention was organised two years ago by the All India Loco-Running Staff Association at Loco Complex in Ludhiana under aegis of President of the Northern Railway Men’s Union, in which staff shortage problem was discussed at large and talk to take it to ministry was done but nothing was done till date. Moreover All India General Secretary, Northern Railway Men’s Union in the recent protest raised voice against step motherly treatment of government especially Railway Ministry with diesel and electric shed employees.
The Divisional Secretary, Northern Railway Men’s Union, Daljit Singh said that they have send the proposal through concerned authorities number of times but till date no new recruitment has made by them. Diesel and electric shed work is hectic and employees do over work for which they are even not being paid. He further
said that if their demands would not be fulfilled than they would take certain step against them and come out on roads to protest against them.
He further said that even there is shortage of equipment such as spare parts of the machines which they export from the foreign countries. “We have sent various reminders to the higher authorities but to no avail”, he added.
