Patiala: The Patiala Police has decided to work for the issuance of red corner notice to bring back the main controller of the infamous Nabha jailbreak case, namely Romi from Singapore as it is Romi who mastermind, funded and supervised the whole operation concerning the jailbreak. This was claimed by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Patiala Range Ashish Chaudhary here on Monday.
He made such remarks while talking to the media persons at the police lines here. Chaudhary claimed that only on Sunday, the Patiala Police along with the Moga Police and the counter intelligence wing conducted a joint operation in village Dhundikai in Moga district and nabbed most-wanted gangster and mastermind of Nabha jailbreak Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, who had fled during the Nabha jailbreak on November 27 along with five other jail inmates, along with his cousin Manveer Singh Sekhon, Kulwinder Singh alias Tibri and Rajwinder Singh alias Sultan alias Raju and recovered weapons and ammunition and a car from them.
He stated that after the interrogation of all these accused late on Sunday night in CIA Center, it was found out that it was Romi from Singapore who masterminded, funded and supervised the November 27 Nabha jailbreak.
Giving details about it, he said that Romi was involved in credit card hacking because of which he was caught and lodged in the maximum security Nabha Jail where he came into contact with gangsters Gurpreet Singh Sekhon and Vicky Gounder. He said that even though after some time, Romi got bail and released from the jail but he continued with his contact with the gangsters.
Chaudhary added that from Singapore, Romi sent the required money for the execution of the jailbreak and with that money the attackers purchased weapons and also arranged cars to ferry the gangsters after breaking the security of the Nabha maximum security Jail. He said that these accused during the preliminary interrogation also revealed that after the jailbreak when the gangsters and the militants reached Haryana and came to know about the flashing of their escape, it was Romi again who established the contact with them and directed them to use other routes and areas so that they will not be spotted and captured.
The DIG said that now Punjab Police through the Union Government would get a red corner notice issued to bring back Romi from Singapore. He said that gangster Sekhon told the interrogators that after fleeing from jail, none of them knew about each other but it was Romi who knew about the whereabouts of each person who fled the jail.
