CIA arrests two carrying 2 kg heroin & cash
Mohali: The CIA branch of the Mohali Police has arrested two drug peddlers for allegedly possessing 2 kg of heroin. The contraband is worth crores of rupees in the international market, said the police.
SP (Investigation) Jaskaran Singh said the accused had been identified as Manoj Kumar, alias Mamu, a native of Muktsar, and Gursewak Singh, a native of Morinda, Ropar.
The two were held near Kharar while they were coming in an Innova vehicle bearing registration number CH01 AQ 2626.
The official said that a secret information was received about two persons carrying contraband in a car from Delhi.
Following the information, the CIA team set up a naka near the Kharar bus stand and held the accused in the Innova vehicle. The police team recovered seized 2 kg of heroin and Rs 50,000 in cash.
The CIA officials said the accused were here to supply the contraband in Kharar and other parts of Punjab.
The CIA officials added that accused Manoj Kumar had been arrested by the police earlier under the NDPS Act. He was out on parole and had not returned to the jail. He has been indulging in drug peddling.
Co-accused Gursewak had become partner in the crime with Manoj for the past eight months.
The accused have been arrested under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. The police are trying to ascertain the receivers of the contraband in the region.
