Mohali: As the Punjab state assembly elections 2017 are ahead, political parties have announced their candidates in various constituency of state.
In Mohali constituency Shirmani Akali Dal’s candidate is still not decided yet. Aam Admi party also pulls back his candidate after announcing his name and shifted him to another constituency. In this scenario congress’s declared candidate is taking advantage as he only alone in race till date.
Congress’s candidate Balbir sidhu sitting MLA started his election campaigning aggressively with congress workers and local leaders from many months. Presently balbir sidhu is gaining political milage as he has no competitor against him from the opposition parties.
On the other side Shiromani Akali Dal’s candidate is yet in dark as no candidate name has announced by party whereas all the local leaders presenting themselves as ticket claimant.
According to sources party high command is erect from local leadership’s groupisam and leg pulling attitude.
In past as well as in present groupisam in Akali Dal unit of Mohali puts party in embarrassment situation in front of voters.
Local leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal openly opposing each other. Other then this various office bearers and district presidents of Mohali are openly opposing each other even on social media.
Presently around 7-8 names are coming forward for ticket of Shiromani Akali. Main names are Tejinder pal Sidhu IAS, who was also remained DC Mohali in past. He is very close relative of senior SAD leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. Paramjit Kaur Landran, Chairperson, state woman commission Punjab. She is also SGPC member and closed to mayor kulwant Singh. Harsukhinder Singh babbi Badal, he is old youth leader who is in race of ticket from many years. In 2012 assembly polls he show some resentment also when high command announced Balwant Singh Ramuwaliya’s name. Later on he was calm down by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. It is believed that he is close to Badal family.
