SAS Nagar: Counting of votes in the three Assembly segments _ SAS Nagar, Derabassi and Kharar _ of Mohali district passed off peacefully. District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, D S Mangat said that all requisite arrangements were already ensured for successful completion of counting of votes. He also thanked the counting staff for their patience and dedication towards accomplishment of counting process and also thanked people for maintaining peace during entre counting process.
Mangat said that complete transparency was ensured for the entire counting process in the presence of candidates and party agents. For all the three constituencies, three different counting centres were established and the counting process was conducted under strict supervision of returning officer concerned. During the entire counting observers deputed by Election Commission were also present, he said. He said that from constituency SAS Nagar, Balbir Singh Sidhu candidate of the Indian National Congress defeated the opponent of Aam Aadmi Party candidate by 27,873 votes.
Mangat said that from Derabassi constituency, N K Sharma, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate defeated his nearest rival by 1,921 votes. Similarly, from Kharar constituency, Kanwar Sandhu candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party won by 2,012 votes. He defeated the Congress candidate.
