MOHALI: In view of the upcoming elections, the district administration, Mohali, has issued instructions to the marriage palace owners to submit their daily reports of functions. The reports have to be submitted to the Returning Officer. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amandeep Kaur held a meeting with the marriage palace owners in this connection. She gave instructions that they must mention the purpose of booking and the amount paid in their reports so that if the palace is booked for any political purpose, the amount can be added to the election expenditure of the candidate or the party. She further told them that reports must be on the letterhead of the marriage palace. The administration has also demanded the rate lists from the marriage palaces.
The Election Commission has clearly mentioned that the marriage palace bookings will cost Rs 10,000 to Rs 80,000 to the candidates, whereas the rent of marriage palaces without furniture in rural areas will be Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 per day, for those located in semi-urban areas will be Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000 per day and the rent for the marriage palaces located in urban areas/posh localities on the GT Road or other main roads will be Rs 30,000 to Rs 80,000 per day.DP
