Mohali: Newly declared AAP candidate from Mohali constituency Narinder Shergill on Tuesday visited historical gurdwara ‘Amb Sahib’ in Phase 8, Mohali and pais his obeisance.
Meanwhile, as compared to previous candidate Himmat Shergill, Narinder Shergill did not face any revolt from volunteers of Mohali. Angry volunteers from party high command’s decision for sending Himmat Shergill have taken U-turn now and declared support to the new candidate. Interestingly, inTuesday’s crowed, most of supporters of Shergill were also from Kharar and Kurali areas.
It is pertinent that Narinder Shergill
is resident of Kharar constituency. He is the son of ex-SGPC member Bhajan Singh. His father had defeated Ujgar Singh Badali of SAD in 2004.
It may also to be mentioned that before this, Narinders Shergill
wanted to contest election from Kharar constituency, but the party gave ticket to Kanwar Sandhu. As the Mohali constituency seat was vacant for AAP candidate, party high command chose Narinder Shergill as candidate.
While interacting informally with media, Shergill claimed, ‘I am thankful to the party high command for giving me chance to serve the people.’ Targeting SAD leaders in Mohali, Shergill claimed that none of
them was united in the past. Still they are fighting for posts. They never win the seat from this constituency, he added.
