Mohali: Aam Aadmi Party on Monday announced that Narinder Singh Shergill will contest from Mohali segmentin place of Himmat Singh Shergill. Forty-eight years old Narinder Shergill is a farmer and former Sarpanch of Jhingran Kalan village of Kharar. A post graduate, Narinder Shergill joined AAP in 2014 before Lok Sabha elections.
Narinder Singh Shergill is a son of former SGPC member Bhajan Singh. His father Bhajan Singh had defeated Ujgar Singh Badali of SAD in 2004.
Prior to it, Narinders Shergill wanted to contest election from Kharar constituency, but party gave ticket to Kanwar Sandhu. Narinder Shergill was wanted to contest election as an independent candidate. The AAP moved Himmat Shergill to Majitha constituency. After the Mohali constituency seat fell vacant Narinder shergill tried again and he was lucky enough to get the party ticket from Mohali.
