Mohali:A day after a sensational murder came to light in Phase III-B1 in Mohali, Ekam Singh Dhillon’s father, Jaspal Singh Dhillon, has accused Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohali City Parminder Singh Bhandal of shielding murder accused Seerat’s accomplice.
“SP City did not take the vehicle in custody in which accused Seerat was allegedly trying to escape. The vehicle belongs to a man with whom Seerat allegedly had relations,” said Jaspal Singh Dhillon. “We will not cremate the body till case is registered against SP City,” he added.
Meanwhile, the victim’s kin on Monday evening also met Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to seek justice for their son and also to complain against SP City. However, sources claimed that SP City Parminder Singh Bhandal has termed the allegations as baseless.
Ekam’s father has also alleged that Seerat had an affair with his son’s friend and claimed it to be the reason behind the murder. The police had produced the murder accused before the district court, Mohali on Monday which has sent her on a 2-day police remand.
DSP Alam Vijay said that Seerat Kaur had surrendered and has been sent on a 2-day police remand, but they are yet to find out who helped her commit the crime. “She alone could not have packed and shifted the body. What was the main motive behind the murder and other facts will be cleared after interrogation,” he added.
Police arrested 35-year-old Phase III-B1 resident, Seerat Kaur, for murder after she allegedly shot her husband, Ekam Singh Dhillon, 40, a businessman, with a 9mm pistol at their rented first-floor accommodation on Saturday at about 11 pm. The couple had a strained relationship since their marriage 12 years ago.
The horrific crime came to light on Sunday morning when the accused bundled the body in a suitcase, carried it to a BMW, intending to dispose it off at an isolated spot.
Police, finally, recovered the body outside the couple’s house (number 116, Phase III-B1) in an abandoned suitcase. Seerat and her family had fled by then, leaving the couple’s 10-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter in the house.
Her mother Jaswinder Kaur and brother Vinay Pratap Brar have also been booked for murder for acting as accomplices, who are still absconding. However, Seerat was arrested from an undisclosed location in Mohali late on Sunday
The police found the children inside the house. They were asleep at the time of the incident and also when their father’s body was found.
