Nawanshahr: June 6
Thirty students of vocational stream who were studying in local government senior secondary school during last academic session are in danger of losing their at least one year as the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has not declared their 10+2 results so far due to some error at the time of filling in their examination forms. These students led by Harpreet Singh On tuesday, met the DC Sonali Giri and through a representation requested her to intervene in the matter so that their results could be declared soon. The students told the DC that they had been running from pillar to post to get their results since May 13 when the PSEB declared the plus two results but to no avail. “We have met the concerned authorities including school principal, DEO etc at least six times since then (declaration of result) though there is absolutely no fault at our end,” the students told the DC.Due to wrong filling of some stream-related information in the examination form, the School Board has withheld their results and has asked the school authorities to deposit a penalty of Rs 1.74 lakh with the Board as stipulated in Board’s norms for such errors. Meanwhile, the DC after directing the District Education Officer on phone for taking requisite steps to facilitate the early declaration of results, asked the students to meet her on Friday.School principal Sushma Sharma on being contacted said that she had been regularly in touch with the authorities concerned including the Chairman of the Board, Secretary School Education and Additional Chief Secretary (Education) Vajralingam on the issue ever since the declaration of plus two results on May 13. “Even I talked to PSEB secretary J.R.Mehrok this morning also on phone and he has assured me to declare the results by tomorrow,” she said, maintaining that she was equally worried about the future of the students.June 6 is the last date for filling of forms by compartment candidates without any late fee charges and the students who will get compartments will not be able to fill in their forms for supplementary exam without late fee charges at least. Regarding the error that crept in while filling forms, she said that it occurred due to some snag in the computer system at that time as out of total 32 students, stream-related information of two students was filled in correctly (their results have been declared by the Board) while that of remaining 30 students was got filled incorrectly. The trade of affected students is Repair and Maintenance of Domestic Electrical Appliances and June 23 is the last day for them to apply for admission in ITIs in the state.
DEO Hari Krishan said that as per talks of the school principal with Board authorities and other higher-ups in the education, the results of students were expected to be declared by tomorrow.
