Ferozepur: In a drive against drugs, Punjab Drug Controller has cancelled the licences of 30 chemists in Ferozepur district. It is learnt that many of the chemists were found drugs to the addicts without prescription slip of the doctors. At least, 15 chemists have been arrested in this regards, reveals Drug Inspector Ravi Gupta. Gupta said that as per law no chemist could sell any medicine to anybody without the prescription slip, but many of the chemists had been found involved in selling the medicines to the addicted persons. Ravi Gupta said that the licences of erring 30 chemists have been cancelled and 15 chemists have been arrested. It is mentioned that drug inspectors were raiding the chemists’ shops by taking help of the police Apart from this, action has also been taken against those who were selling the medicines above the MRP, Gupta says. There are 450 chemists in the district, he adds. Drug inspector told that if any chemist found selling medicines without prescription, licence of such chemist would be cancelled and legal action also would be taken against him/her also.
