Punjab’s popular anchor, actress, dancer and singer Satinder Satti has many feathers in her hat. The current chairperson of Punjab Art Council, Satinder, feels that there is no end to an artist’s realm and that’s what she has been proving since she came into limelight.
Although, she has proven herself as an effortless and spontaneous writer and speaker with her instant ‘shayari’ on stage, she says, “Writing is God’s gift to me, and before being known as anything else, I am a writer first. However, to compile my words in a book was a long-term cherished dream, which got delayed because of random uncertainties.”
Nevertheless, Satinder’s dream has finally come true as she released her first book titled Anjammya Bot on Monday at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
The book is a compilation of various poems that she has penned down in her life so far.
“As I said that showing the writer’s side of mine was always a dream, but busy schedules didn’t allow me to do so. There were people who have always encouraged me to come up with a book,” says Satinder.
She started writing poems when she was 11-year-old hence, she has a huge collection of poems written on her own life experiences.
“My poems,” she says, “Are nothing but my feelings for the surroundings. Few are romantic, few depict my days of struggle and many narrate the happening in the society. All are observations.”
Another interesting yet challenging thing for Satinder was to collect her poems as she hadn’t written them in one particular dairy.
She laughingly says, “I used to write randomly; sometime on a napkin or sometimes behind a bus ticket. And, when the idea to publish a book came to me, recollecting all those old poems became a tough task.”
Talking about the title Anjammya Bot, Satinder recalls that it was the title of the first poem that she recited during the youth festival of her college.
“I received lot of appreciation from this poem and people started knowing me as a poetess. So, this is the reason I gave this title to my book,” says Satinder on a parting note.
