The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2017, which were held on May 21, were announced on Sunday.
Category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates are also available on the online portal. Candidates will be informed about their results through text messages as well but no individual rank cards will be sent.
The performance of a candidate in JEE (Advanced) forms the basis for admission to the bachelor’s, integrated Master’s and dual degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian School of Mines (ISM).
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct seven rounds of admissions to ensure that every seat in all the IITs is filled this year. Last year, six rounds were conducted instead of the usual two, but 73 of 9660 seats still remained vacant in some of the newer IITs.
The answer keys of the exam were released on June 4 and the organising IITs said that all students will be awarded 11 bonus marks for three ‘ambiguous’ questions that were asked in the JEE (Advanced) paper.
There were 18 questions each in Paper 1 and 2 of the JEE (Advanced) 2017.
“Paper 1 covered multiple answers correct type questions, integer type questions, as well as the newly introduced three-column matrix match. Overall Paper 1 of JEE (Advanced) 2017 was designed with a good mixture of conceptual and tricky questions,” an expert said.
“In Paper 2, there were more than one option correct type questions, single option correct type questions, and paragraph type questions with respect to the types of questions. It seemed relatively difficult than Paper 1,” he added.
