Chandigarh: Ismeet Singh, a final year law student of Chandigarh a committed Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) has been recommended him awarding on the Republic Day (January 26) for his outstanding works. While talking to Mahavir Singh, Secretary, State Legal Services Authority (Slsa) said that the authority has recommended two names-one official and other non- official-for award. He has all praised for Ismeet and said that at present he was best PLV in Chandigarh and has been working with the Authority since 2014. He has been working tirelessly with the Authority and assisting the Authority in organizing a number of seminars, workshops, class room lectures as a committed worker. Besides, he is a resource person. He voluntarily and actively participates in all the activities of the State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, irrespective when and where the activity was being organised, said Singh. He also works as a Resource Person in various Legal Literacy Clubs and Anti Drug Clubs being run by the SLSA in various government and private educational Institutions. He also works in the slum colonies, villages creating awareness and knowledge among the weaker sections of society about their rights and duties under the Constitution of India and other statutes, how they can avail free legal aid from the State Legal Services Authority and has particularly worked to sensitize them and the children and women regarding Drug Abuse, Juvenile Justice System, Women Empowerment, Matrimonial Disputes, Prevention of Sexual Offences against Child and how to seek legal service as a victim or as an offender or as a common citizen, as the case may be. He has also acted as a promoter of Alternative Dispute Resolving (ADR) mechanism in Chandigarh by sensitizing the citizen about the importance of Mediation, Lok Adalats at prelitigative stage, Permanent Lok Adalat and Permanent Lok Adalat of Public Utility Services so that people are able to get speedy and economical justice.
His services have also been appreciated by various Government agencies like the Narcotic Control Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, NSS and various other educational Institutions.
