Chandigarh: The UT Administration will hold hands on training at Digi-Pathshala where 200 trainers will impart training to visitors and children to go cashless. The training will be held during the DigiDhan Mela being organised by the administration to promote the cashless concept.
The administration is holding “Dangal” Wrestling Championship today at Football Stadium in Sector 17 and will distribute prizes worth Rs 1 lakh to the winners.
During the day-long event, banks, Common Service Centres (CSCs) and private digital payment service providers will provide services to consumers and merchants to adopt digital payments.
The aim is to encourage adoption of digital payments by local residents where they can interact with banks and other stakeholders, get apps downloaded and learn how to do digital transactions. The key features will be holding Digi-Pathshala wherein demonstration and awareness of digital transactions will be given by various banks to the visitors. Seventy stalls will be put up by banks and various organisations for opening of new accounts, Aadhar seeding of accounts and PoS machine distribution, besides imparting training.
While divulging the concept, Home Secretary Anurag Agarwal said that on the day, 15,000 such people who had opted to go cashless from across the country, would be given prizes worth Rs 1,000 each. The names of the winners would be announced by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Agarwal said, “The idea to hold this event is to create awareness among the masses to adopt cashless transactions. The event has been organised in popularity of wrestling among the rural people and the need of the hour is to educate the people in rural areas to adopt the concept.
The winner of the wrestling competition will be given a prize worth Rs 1 lakh and the names of those 15,000 consumers or traders from across the country going cashless will also be given Rs 1,000 prize money through a lucky draw.DP
