Rains lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana today including Chandigarh and its surrounding areas, causing a dip in the mercury.Various areas of the two states including Jagraon, Mohali, Ropar, Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar received light rains.
The maximum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today hovered at below normal levels, providing relief to the people from the heat conditions.The maximum temperatures hovered between 11 degrees to one notch below normal in most parts of both the states, the MeT office said here.
Ambala was hottest place in the region with a high of 36.3 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.While Patiala settled at a high of 36 degrees, two notches below normal, the maximum at Chandigarh was 35.8 degrees, two notches below normal.
The MeT forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of rains or thundershowers in Punjab and Haryana during the next 48 hours.
