The Supreme Court of Italy has banned the use of Sikh Kirpans publicly. The court said that the immigrant Sikhs who want to settle in Italy will have to adopt Italian law. Publicly carrying arms (kirpan) by Sikhs is a violation of the law of the land. Although the court acknowledged, “Multiracial society is important for the country but public security is precious from everything and authority.”the court has pronounced this verdict on a petition filed by a Sikh in the Supreme Court to carry a kirpan. That Sikh was imposed fine of 2000 dollar for wearing 20 cm of Kirpan in the city of Guitto in northern Italy. He challenged the trial court’s judgment in the Supreme Court. The petitioner had argued in court that his Kirpan and Turban were part of his religious dress, but the court in Rome said that citizens living outside will ensure that their religious beliefs are in accordance with the laws of the country.
