BJP meets ED, seeks registration of case against Rana Gurjit and associates. Seeking registration of case against Power Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh in getting sand mine to his close employees, a delegation of BJP Punjab on Saturday handed over a complaint to Niranjan Singh, the Deputy Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jalandhar. The BJP leadership led by state party vice-president Harjit Singh Grewal, state party general secretaries- Kewal Kumar, Manjit Singh Rai, Jiwan Gupta and state party secretary Vineet Joshi also demanded registration of case against seven other associates of Rana Gurjeet. Rana Gurjeet hit the headlines, after a former employee of Rana Sugars Limited Amit Bahadur, who reportedly served as ‘Cook’ earlier managed to bag Rs 26 crore sand mine in Nawanshahr district. Rana’s other men also got lucrative sand mine deals. The BJP leaders termed this case as that of shadow or proxy biding by Rana Gurjeet Singh. “We have sought action against his employees – Amit Bahadur, Kulvinder Paul, Balraj Singh and Avtar Singh Gill- along with Ajit Pal Singh Gill, son of Avtar Ajit Pal Singh Gill for bagging mining contracts worth crores. However, the fact was that none of them were having such income to justify the bids”, he said.Besides, the BJP also demanded filing of a case against Capt. JS Randhawa and his son Sanjit Singh Randhawa, who came to the rescue of Rana and his employees, claiming that they had given them the money to invest in the bids. Notably, Capt Randhawa was the election agent of Rana Gurjeet during the recently held assembly elections. Talking to media persons outside the ED office, Vineet Joshi said, “It is a case of benami transactions where persons with ‘insignificant income’ were depositing crores of rupees into government exchequer.”“As it is a proven case of corruption, benami deals and hawala transactions, we have urged the Enforcement Directorate to register a case at the earliest and initiate action against the accused”, he said. Joshi also informed that the Deputy Director Niranjan Singh has assured them of taking proper action after going through the allegations. It is noteworthy to mention here that noted High Court Advocate HS Aror and Nawanshahr based RTI Activist Parvinder Singh Kitna too had filed a complaint against Rana Gurjeet Singh.
