Amritsar:Veteran producer-director of Bollywood, Mahesh Bhatt, visited holy city to promote his new film “Begum Jaan” which hit the cinema halls all over the country on Friday. He after visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, interacted with media persons and dwelt at length about his new venture.
Speaking about the storyline of “Begum Jaan”, Bhatt stated that film basically is focused upon the partition era of 1947 which shattered the countless families and thousands of innocent people, for no fault of theirs, had to bear the brunt of these turbulent times.” It elaborates upon how the innocent persons fell prey to the bullets. In addition, it also portrays the plight of women and womanhood which has remained unchanged even after 70 years of attaining Independence”, Bhatt asserted.
To a query about Indo-Pak relations turning sour during the past a few years, Bhatt remarked that through this movie he has tried to do a bit for bringing both nations closer. He also added that though both nations wanted peace, however, many other countries were averse to it.
To yet another query as to why Pak actors participating in various productions in Mumbai were forced to return to their country leaving the shootings midway, Bhatt replied that different people have different notions and nobody could be compelled. On this occasion, Punjab’s local bodies minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu, remarked that Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, had invited many producers and directors of Pakistan to visit Punjab and carry out shootings for their new ventures here.
