Jalandhar:Following Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary’s directives, Jalandhar Divisional Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhary on Monday said that said that District Education Officers (Secondary and Elementary) would be the primary enquiring authority (PEA) for any complaint pertaining to fee hike, excessive admission fees, and monopolisation of text book sales and so on.
DC has also directed the Circle Education Officer (CEO) to complete the process for nominating two eminent educationists in the regulatory body. Addressing a meeting with DEOs of eight districts, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Pathankot, Chaudhary said: “It has been decided that the concerned DEO would receive complaints from parents or guardians and proceed to carry out a preliminary enquiry into allegations made.” Chaudhary said that if after conducting the enquiry, the concerned DEO is of the opinion that the matter needs to be referred to the regulatory body than the complaint along with DEO remarks would be sent to CEO. “The CEO would consolidate all such complaints and would put it before the Regulatory Committee constituted at Divisional Level for further action,” he added.
He also directed the DEOs to seek information regarding fees and other charges from the schools and send it to the Regulatory Body within ten days. He said that no school should be spared if found guilty of fleecing parents in any respect. “Any officials found to be negligent in this regard will also be taken to task,” said the Deputy Commissioner.
