Mohali:Mohali police have now claimed that the deceased Ekam was not killed with the weapon recovered from the spot. Jaspal Singh Dhillon father of Ekam expressed unhappiness over the slow pace of police investigation.
Dhillon claimed that the weapon recovered by the police from his son’s house had not been used in the crime.
The father said he suspected that Vinay Pratap Singh, Seerat’s brother, was not involved in the case because the relations between brother and sister had been strained for quite some time.
On Monday, sarpanches, panches and local people of village Abul Khurrana, Malout also showed up at SAS Nagar district court complex in support of Vinay Pratap Singh. They claimed that Vinay Pratap Singh have nothing to do with the case as he was not in talking terms with Seerat from past 5-6 years.
According to police officers, Ekam was shot with a 9 mm pistol. DSP Alam Vijay Singh said, “The empty shell recovered from the rented accommodation of Ekam was of a bullet fired from a 9mm pistol, which may be a country-made weapon. But the pistol recovered from the crime scene, Smith and Wesson, is of 7.65mm caliber.’’
The police have also recovered one more shell from the spot and have sent it to forensic laboratory in Kharar.
The main accused in the case, Seerat Kaur, wife of deceased has been sent to 14 days judicial custody by a local court on Monday.
