A Punjab roadways department’s sub-inspector Ram Ji Das, who was in-charge of issuing monthly passes for daily commuters, allegedly found making money illegally from the bus passes. In a preliminary inquiry carried out by Punjab Roadways Depot-2, sub-inspector Ram Ji Das found guilty.
Das used to change the details in the original pass receipt and enter different data into register. The investigation officer told that they cross checked the receipt number 350 and 351, each carry 100 passes, with the amount entered in the register, there was a total difference of Rs 30,650.
Das has been issuing bus passes here from last two years and was the president of conductor union. The inquiry was conducted under the directions of Punjab Transport Corporation (PTC) on May 16. PTC had received a complaint regarding the matter from another employee.
