With the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, the Reserve Bank of India has increased the cash margin (CCL) of the state to Rs 20,683 crore on Saturday. The Punjab Government has so far paid Rs 14053.61 crore to the farmers in the current season.According to sources, Capt. Amarinder Singh has paid the highest amount of Rs 14053.61 crore for this year’s wheat procurement, against Rs 5938.21 crore in April and 947.19 crore in April, 2015.In a letter to the Principal Secretary of the Finance Department of the State, the Reserve Bank said that this increase in the loan limit has been taken into consideration on the assurance given by the State Bank of India and keeping in mind the requisite payment for wheat procurement season.According to an official spokesperson, this year, 118,08,318 metric tonnes has been procured so far out of which government agencies procured 115,47,340 metric tonnes of wheat. Out of this, 111,41,940 metric tonnes of wheat has been successfully procured from the markets, due to which procurement operations run smooth and speedy during this rabi season.
