Jalandhar Rural Police arrests three 61 kg poppy husk. The Jalandhar (Rural) police on Thursday arrested three accused in different cases and recovered a total of 61 Kg Poppy Husk from their possession. A case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
A police party led by Inspector Mohinder Singh, in-charge Anti-Narcotic Cell arrested three accused namely Arun Kumar, a resident of village Bhamia Kalan of Ludhiana, Balvir Singh of Jallowal village in Nawanshahr and Ramesh Kumar from Raipur Araian in Phillaur.In the first case, ASI Charanjit Singh arrested Arun Kumar along with a three wheeler from near Octroi Post, Phillaur on Nawanshehar Road and recovered 25Kg Poppy Husk from him.
Similarly, ASI Amarjit Singh of Anti Narcotic Cell laid a Naka at turning point Village Kadiala, Nawanshehar Road in Phillaur and apprehended one Balvir Singh and recovered 25 Kg Poppy Husk from him. The accused was already facing two cases of NDPS Act registered against him in district Patiala and Nawanshehar.In the third case, ASI Surjit Singh arrested one Ramesh Kumar from near turning point village Bharsinghpura in Phillaur and recovered 11 Kg Poppy Husk from him. He too was facing two NDPS Act cases.
SSP Jalandhar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar was leading the drive against drug peddlers to break drug supply chain in the region and major recoveries under NDPS Act case have been done by the police parties in the recent past.
