Agitated farmers torch 4 buses Madhya Pradesh violence spreading. The farmers’s agitation in Madhya Pradesh continued on Wednesday with violence spreading to other areas in the state. Agitated farmers torched four chartered buses in Dewas on Wednesday afternoon. However, the passengers managed to escape and run for their lives.
The incident took place at Nevri Chowk in Sonkatch. The bus was ferrying passengers from Indore to Bhopal when it was stopped by protesters. They first pelted stones at the bus and vandalized it using iron rods.Later, they set the buses on fire.
Police said they had to resort to lathi charge and use teargas shells to disperse the violent protesters. Incidents of stone-pelting on buses and other vehicles were also reported from different parts of the city and adjoining districts.
“Four AICTSL vehicles were torched by the farmers.All the passengers managed to run towards the farms to save their lives. The farmers also pelted stones at the vehicles in which women and children were trapped,” said Sandeep Soni, AICTSL, CEO.
Meanwhile, an automobile showroom on Manasa road was also set on fire by the farmers.
“Strict action will be taken against those damaging public property and pelting stones at public,” said DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra and appealed to the protesters to hold discussions to resolve the issue.
