Punjab will organise a sporting extravaganza in the form of second edition of ‘Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Punjab Games’ (U-25) from October 25 to October 29 as part of the vision envisaged by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to make the state a powerhouse in the arena of sports at both national and international level.Disclosing this here on Wednesday, state Director Sports Rahul Gupta said that the grand success of the first edition of these games encouraged the department to go in for the second edition.
Divulging more, he said the games would see the events of Basketball, Football, Handball, Cycling, Hockey (Men), Badminton, Shooting, Weightlifting, Volleyball, Gymnastics including Rhythmic, Archery, Fencing, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, Swimming, Table Tennis, Hockey (Women), Athletics, Roller Skating, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi (Circle and National style).
Giving further details, he said the Basketball, Football, Handball and Cycling events would be held at Ludhiana, Hockey (Men), Badminton, Shooting at Jalandhar, Weightlifting, Volleyball, Gymnastics including Rythmic, Archery and Fencing at Patiala. Similarly Boxing, Wrestling and Judo competition would be hosted at Anandpur Sahib, Swimming, Table Tennis and Hockey (Women) at Mohali where as Athletics, Roller Skating and Kho-Kho events to be held at Sangrur and Kabaddi (Circle and National style) at Bathinda. He also elaborated that the preparations to ensure smooth and efficient conduct of the games are on the war footing with every detail being minutely monitored and looked into.
