Chandigarh:Violating the Medical Council of India’s guidelines, doctors of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, have allegedly sent medical experts from Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, to run government run hospitals in Bathinda and Jalalabad. The doctors have reported been sent on verbal orders by the state government to run the show during elections.
Sources in the department disclosed that three expert doctors from the Faridkot medical college and hospital have been sent to Jalalabad Hospital while three others to Cancer Hospital in Bathinda with following the norms.
While these doctors are serving in the hospitals located in constituencies represented by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and their places of posting are in Faridkot and the salaries are being paid by the university.
As per the norms, the MS and MBBS doctors could not be sent beyond 30 km from their parent colleges.
Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor of the university, however, claimed that the doctors have been shifted to the hospitals (in Bathinda) that are affiliated to the university.
He said that the process to recruit doctors to fill the vacancies will be initiated soon after now government comes to power in the state.
