NEET 2017 paper leak, Racket Arrested by ATS. The National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 7.
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan police had earlier arrested a gang involved in leaking this year’s NEET question paper. Now, a man alleged to be the kingpin of the racket has been arrested yesterday from New Delhi.
As per reports, a total of 11,38,890 students registered for this examination including 1522 NRIs, 480 OCIs, 70 PIOs and 613 Foreigners. It was conducted in 10 languages, at 1921 exam centres in 103 cities.
ATS found a victim name Uma Shankar Gupta as a suspect. Uma Shankar Gupta (42) was arrested from his Jasola Vihar residence in Delhi, the police said, adding that it was the sixth arrest in the case so far.
“Gupta, a habitual offender, had earlier duped several people in the name of providing question paper of the medical entrance examination. He is based in Delhi and had established links in other states to operate his gang. He was earlier arrested in 2006, in Shimla and in 2015, in Telangana, in connection with examination paper leak case,” ATS SOG Inspector General of police, Umesh Mishra said, adding that the accused would brought to Jaipur and produced before a court.
Demand of 5 lakh from each student
Uma Shankar did this crim for the purpose of money from students. In exchange of paper he demanded 5 lakh from per student who want the leaked paper.
Victim has his branches spread over the country . Sinha had offices in Rajasthan and Bihar to lure the candidates, while Ashok Gupta is a close friend and a partner of the kingpin of the racket, Uma Shankar. Bhupendra Sharma is a livestock assistant in Rajasthan animal husbandry department.
