Chandigarh: The fourth list of Punjab Congress came as a shocker not only for two nominated candidates but also to the party workers and supporters. The party replaced two candidates, Tajinder Singh Bittu (Jalandhar North) with former Congress MLA Rajkumar Gupta and Nirmal Singh Nimma (Bhadaur) with Joginder Singh Panjgrain.
Bittu, a former chairman of Improvement Trust, Jalandhar, is said to be close confidant of Captain Amarinder Singh, who managed get party ticket in the third list. Like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that replaces five candidates in the past amid the peak of election campaign, the Congress has also came a cropper for its candidates buy with different reasons.
Marked by an instinct to kill, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has shuttled off five of its candidates as of now and pitched new faces who could meet conditions of electioneering. The action of the party top brass, according to insiders, has been taken by the party to ensure its victory in the ensuing Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections.
While the party leadership claimed that the candidates were changed due to certain solid reasons including poor election campaign and allegations of corruption and bad image, the rival parties see the changes otherwise.
The AAP from Nakodar had replaced Jagtar Singh Sanghera with Sarwan Singh Hayer, in Balluana, Giriraj Rajora was replaced with Simarjit Singh.
Similarly, Dr Vinod was replaced with Amarjit Singh at Bhoha seat, Dr Ranyodh Singh Sran with Daljit Singh Sadarpur at Dharamkot and at Amritsar Central, Rajinder Kumar was replaced with Darbari Lal.
