Sunny Leone and husband, Daniel Weber are proud parents of 21-month-old baby girl, Nisha Kaur Weber. Confused? The couple adopted Nisha from Latur, Maharashtra and Sunny can’t stop raving about the little munchkin. In an interview with Hindustan times, she said that, ‘it was love at first sight’ with Nisha. The couple had applied for a baby with an orphanage nearly two years ago. And now, after a long wait, the couple finally had their long cherished dream come true.Speaking about their new phase of life, Sunny told Hindustan Times, “Right now, it’s all so brand new because it has just been a few days. The moment we got the picture (of Nisha); I was so excited, happy, emotional and [experienced] so many different feelings. We literally had three weeks to finalise everything. Usually, people get nine months to prepare (laughs).” Daniel added that they decided to adopt two years ago seeing the amazing work the people at the orphanages were doing. Given their busy schedules, the couple always knew that if they were to have a baby, it would only be through the adoption way. “Our life is always so crazy. It was only when Sunny and Daniel began the paperwork for the adoption process, did they realise that as parents they don’t have a say in choosing the place from where the baby can be adopted. “We didn’t decide. The Indian government and Cara agency decided when we were ready (smiles). We didn’t know that you don’t get to choose the ashram or orphanage that you adopt from, the ministry chooses for you,” she said.
Nisha literally means the Hindu Goddess of Night. Being a Punjabi, Sunny always wanted to keep the middle name Kaur or Singh. Sunny’s official name too is Karenjit Kaur. Meanwhile Nisha is trying to cope with the change in the environment–from Latur to the couple’s place in Mumbai. “When she came home, I think that’s when it dawned upon her, that she is not going back. Until then she thought she was going on a road trip. The ever-so-busy couple, is also taking turns to orient their lives according to Nisha now. Apparently, Sunny’s schedule was packed until the end of this year, and the couple didn’t know till the very last minute that they would be getting a call from the orphanage regarding the adoption. ” We didn’t know that Nisha was coming to us so Sunny’s schedule was completely planned till the end of the year. But it is okay, so now, Sunny has to go to London, and though I would have liked to go with her but I will stay with Nisha here,” Daniel said.Fully aware that a child comes with a lot of responsibility, Sunny told HT that the reason the couple had been working so hard all these years was to be able to start a family some day and now that the moment has come, they couldn’t have asked for more. “It’s a responsibility for the rest of our lives. But we have been ready for that — physically, mentally and financially. We were working really hard because we wanted to start a family, and this is the way it’s going to start, so it’s amazing,” she said.
