Khanna: A Nigerian national was arrested in city and 1 kg of heroin and 5 grams Crack (Cocaine) worth Rs. 5.35 crore was recovered from his possession on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Harrison Chinedu Naji, a resident of 123, Main Street Legal Department F.R.S.C Headquarter, Wuse Zone-07, Abuja, Nigeria, and at present residing at Raj Nagar, New Delhi.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna Dhruv Dahiya said that the Police party was checking the vehicles and persons during a checkpoint near Pristine Mall, GT Road, on the Delhi- Ludhiana highway. While checking, a Toyota Camry Car bearing registration number of Delhi was coming from the Gobindgarh side. After seeing Police Party, driver tried to flee alongwith car, but police party stopped by barricading. During frisking, 1 kilogram of heroin, 5 grams Crack (Cocaine), 4 mobile phones and 1 silver chain was recovered from his car.
The SSP said “On getting information that the Nigeria-based citizen, Harrison Chinedu Naji, is bringing a huge consignment of heroin from Delhi to Ludhiana, a trap was laid on Pristine Mall. The trap was laid about early in the Morning on Thursday and thereafter the suspect arrested with car.” The police have lodged an FIR under Section 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act at the Sadar police station, Khanna. While a probe is currently on, the police said more revelations were yet to be made. The police said earlier also, a Twenty One of Africa-based drug smugglers had been arrested by the Khanna police for indulging in smuggling of drugs (Heroin 10-kg 448-gms, Cocaine22-gms, Ice Drug 18-gms and Crack 5-gms) and cases had been registered against them.
