A 22 year old youth killed after his car was hit by another car here at Sector 42, Chandigarh on Monday evening. The accused has been arrested in the matter, said police.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Amandeep (22), a resident of Village-Palheri, (Mohali). The victim was working as a driver.Police sources said that the accident took place at around 5.50 pm near Hotel Beacons, Sector 42-C, Chandigarh when the victim car driver Amandeep was coming in his car (PB-65 AE-7765) from Government College for Girls Sector 42 side, as he reached near Hotel Beacons, a rashly driven (HR-03S-3400) hit the other car from the front.
The impact of the hit was so strong that the car driven by Amandeep went over the footpath and then rammed into a tree after hitting into an electric pole.The police was called at the spot and the victim was rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) Sector 16, from where he was reffered to PGI, where duty doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, acting in the complaint, the police have arrested the accused car driver identified as Shankey (21) a resident of Sector 17, Panchkula. The accused is also a driver by profession.The police have arrested the accused under section 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 337 (causing hurt by act of endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Sector 36, Chandigarh. The investigation is in progress, said a police official.
In another case of accident, a woman was injured after she was allegedly hit by a rashly driven Punjab Roadways bus (PB-02-CR-6082) here at the main entrance of Sector 43, Chandigarh. The police have arrested the accused bus driver Amritpal Singh a resident of Tarantaran (Punjab). The victim woman who got injured and admitted to PGI, is under treatment. The accused was arrested and later on bailed out.
