The Cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday at 12:30 pm at Chandigarh in which different issues were discussed. The meeting was held in the Punjab Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. A Subcommittee for regularizing unauthorized colonies was also formed in meeting. The decision will be given in a month on what should the state government’s stand on this issue and what fee will be set to regularize the unauthorized colonies. At least 6000 to 7000 colonies are unauthorized in Punjab. Recruitment of lecturers in Phillaur Police Academy was also discussed during the meeting and a go ahead was given. Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that employees at Bathinda thermal plan will not lose their jobs and will be transferred to other plants in the state. CM Punjab also chaired the first meeting of Punjab Industrial Development Board. Captain Amarinder said that “I want to establish Punjab as an industry friendly state for which there is a need to fix industrial power tariff, innovative new industrial policy, single window approach to provide simplified and easy clearances and specific incentives for expansion, modernization and upgradation of the existing units shall go a long way in achieving this goal and shall help in industrial as well as sustainable development of the state”.
