Bathinda: ‘Suraj de akha’ is a novel written by Punjabi writer Baldev Sarkanama. Various questions are arising on this novel. The author is also accused of writing against the Maharaja Ranjit Singh in this novel. After which the author and his supporters are being threatened to be killed by people, there has been a case of abusive speech also. In this connection, many representatives of Punjabi Writer Council Bathinda today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of the district and demanded action against those people who are misrepresenting and threatening the novel writers. Many writers, including the story writer Artarjit and Jaspal Manakra were present. The authors said that it is that everyone has right to criticize the novel, but the name of religion is being provoked and an attempt is being made to malign the state’s atmosphere.
While there is nothing wrong is written about Sikhism in the novel. He said that whatever was written about the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh through this novel, there was nothing wrong in that. They alleged that now with writer Baldev Sarkanama and his supporters are being abusive and threatened to death. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to take action in this matter.
