Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has directed the Transport Department to speed up the campaign against unauthorized vehicles across the state and take strict action against those who violate the Rules.An official spokesman said that the Chief Minister directed the department to strictly enforce the Motor Vehicle Act after inspection of Buses, heavy duty vehicles, tractor trolleys, etc.
The Chief Minister made it clear that no relaxation will be used in this regard. He told the department to strictly follow the guidelines and ensure that the infringers were not spared.Following the Chief Minister’s orders, the Transport Department sent a letter to all Regional Transport Authorities and District Transport Offices to ensure timely completion of all bus schedules, permits and taxation evidence on the lower level by the departmental teams. The authorities have also been directed to send its comprehensive report to the office of the State Provincial Transport Commissioner daily.The Transport Department issued strict instructions to take stringent action against the violators of the existing rules on unauthorized use of tractor-trolleys for commercial purposes and to stop- overloading.According to the spokesperson, the Chief Minister has issued these instructions in reference to the reports regarding the violation of the traffic rules due to such reasons, they carry out fatal accidents on the roads. The Chief Minister said that the new transport policy was being implemented by the government and he has directed the department to take steps to ensure strict compliance of current rules so that the safety of the roads can be ensured.
