Kapurthala: Punjab Revenue and Public relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that Captain’s resignation and Congress MLA’s resignations are just poll stunts as Punjab is already into the election mode.
Talking to media persons after flagging off a train of piligrams to Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib under Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra here today, Majithia terming resignations a mere drama said that Captain had already declared to contest coming Vidhan Sabha polls then there was no sense in resigning from Lok Sabha as only few months were left in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Polls.
Majithia also questioned that why other Congress MP’s from Punjab had not resigned? He further said that these double standards clearly show the real face of Congress which was trying to gain lost ground through such dramas but the people were aware of such tactics.
Majithia said that Captain was the man who welcomed the then Prime Minister Mrs Indra Gandhi for the inauguration of SYL Canal by giving advertisements in newspapers. He further said that it was Congress Chief Minister Darbara Singh who gave approval for the Construction of SYL Canal.
Majithia said that Shiromani Akali Dal from the very first day took stand against the construction of SYL Canal and Punjab does not have extra water to share with any other state. He said that our farmers were already facing shortage of canal irrigation and ground water level is also going down day by day therefore our fields were becoming barren. Majithia said that Shiromani Akali Dal is ready for on any sacrifice but not allow even a single drop of water to go out of Punjab.
Majithia said that Congress governments had always played a step motherly role towards the interests of Punjab and Punjabis. Now the Congress leaders instead of resigning from the party were playing resignation politics whereas it’s the Congress party which had given so many wounds to the Punjabi in by sending tanks to destroy Sri Darbar Sahib, Sikh Massacre in 1984 and looted the natural resources of Punjab for their petty Political gains.
Mr. Majithia gave a call to the people of Punjab to be aware of such dramas of Congress and be ready for the struggle to save waters of Punjab.
